It all started when…

Hegener's was founded in 1874 as a supplier of fine barber supplies serving the cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota.

Hegener's is grounded in friendly, knowledgeable service while providing top quality products known for unbeatable value for our customers.

The Update product line was formulated by James King, founder of our sister company, Custom Formulations, Inc. Jim's background in chemistry and medical school verified his values of individual health and well-being and the safety of families and children. As a result, he wished to serve the general population in a way that would encompass these values and created the hair care formulas we manufacture.

All of our formulas are highly concentrated and formulated for specific hair and scalp conditions. We have always sought to increase our customer's knowledge of product chemistry and make ourselves available for product consultations.
